COTTAGE PROPERTY
The cottage sits on a prestigious point of Waupoos Island, northeast facing towards Waupoos (you can see the winery) and Kingston. The property is 12+ acres with a whopping 2100 feet of unspoiled Lake Ontario shoreline. The property is mostly left in it’s natural form with fields, rocks, trees, vines, flowers, birds, fish; and of course.. sheep! … in other words, an abundance of wildness and nature.
The water is crisp and clear; shores are pebbles and rounded rocks so we simply pull the boat up on the shore. Docks don’t last long in Lake Ontario winters. Swimming is excellent; water shoes are recommended. There is a sand beach on the opposite side of the island you can also explore.
COTTAGE LAYOUT AND CAPACITY
The cottage consists of an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen walking out onto a large cedar deck facing the water. There are 4 bedrooms each sleeping 2 adults. The bedrooms are configured as 1 queen bed, 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds, 2 bunk beds (+ crib). There is a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and clawfoot tub. The cottage sleeps 8 adults and can accommodate 2 extra children on the upper bunks. There is also a crib available if you are traveling with an infant.
LEISURE
Stuff we love to use and share: 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards and a canoe. There is also and endless supply of rocks, sticks, water, leaves, trees, flowers, marshmallows, and campfires which can be amazingly entertaining. Pack nothing and you will still have an awesome week.
GETTING THERE
It takes a little grit and determination to get to an island paradise! We will meet you at Waupoos Marina and boat you to the cottage on the day of your arrival and day of departure as well as one trip back and forth to the mainland each if desired. You do need to travel between dawn and dusk We will co-ordinate with you through the week when you would like to travel. Most groups like to have a few “island days” and a few “town days” to restock on supplies or go explore attractions. You are more than welcome to use the kayaks, canoe or paddle boards to go back and forth as well. Mainland to Island at the nearest point is about 1000m and 3 km if you go from Marina to our cottage doorstep by water.
LIFE JACKETS for all adults are included. We have some children’s sizes but advise you to bring your own for children to ensure best fit & safety.
COTTAGE SUPPLIES
However, we provide bed linens and pillows, bathroom linens, paper towel and tp, cleaning supplies, basic kitchen foodstuffs like spices, a water dispenser with refillable water and propane for the barbeque to keep you going all week long.
